2025 Doctoral Student Travel Award

The Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) is now accepting applications for the Doctoral Student Travel Award Program for the 2025 Annual Conference, which will take place from January 15-19, 2025, in Seattle, WA. Applications are due Wednesday, November 6, 2024, by 11:59 PM PST.

Program Purpose: The SSWR Doctoral Student Travel Award Program is designed to increase the diversity of doctoral student presenters from underrepresented groups by assisting their ability to attend and present their work at the SSWR Annual Conference with a travel stipend and complimentary conference registration.

Eligibility: Applicants must: 1) be currently enrolled doctoral students and 2) have received an abstract acceptance as a presenting author for the 2025 SSWR conference. In the application, applicants must also identify as a member of a historically underrepresented racial/ethnic group, a first-generation college student, and/or identify as a member of another disadvantaged group. All eligible applicants must demonstrate current and significant financial hardship or special circumstances that may adversely impact attendance at the 2025 SSWR conference. Awardees will be selected by the SSWR Research Capacity Development Committee (RCDC).

Awards: Up to 30 travel stipends of $500 each will be distributed at conference check-in. The stipends are intended to defray the costs associated with being a presenter at the 2025 Annual Conference (such as airfare, ground travel, hotel, meals, etc.). Conference registration will be covered for all recipients of the travel award.

Application Process: Applications must be completed online. The final question in the online application will require you to upload your current CV as a PDF file. You must name your PDF in this format: SSWRDocStuTravel_last name_first name.
