Information on in person, live streaming, and virtual presentations

The 26th Annual Conference of the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) will be held in person, January 12-16, 2022, in Washington, DC, at the Marriott Marquis Washington DC hotel.

All general sessions, invited symposia, and abstract-based presentations will be in person with several virtual components.

  • All GENERAL SESSIONS AND INVITED SYMPOSIA will be live-streamed. These include: Thursday Plenary, Presidential Plenary, Aaron Rosen Lecture, Social Policy Forum, Doctoral Student Panel Session, and three invited symposia.  A reduced registration fee will be available for live-streaming attendance only.
  • EPOSTER PRESENTATIONS may be presented in person or may be submitted to the online “Poster Gallery” as a PDF, PPT, or pre-recorded video presentation.
    • If you plan to present in person, please submit your poster as a PDF or a PPT.
    • If you plan to present virtually, please submit your poster as a PDF, a PPT, or a pre-recorded video presentation.

Poster Submission Deadlines:

Option 1. Submit poster by December 17, 2021. Posters submitted by this date will be posted on the Poster Gallery starting January 12, 2022 (first day of the conference)

Option 2. Submit poster by January 3, 2022. Posters submitted by this date will be posted on the Poster Gallery starting January 17, 2022 (the day after the conference)

Please note all posters presented in person and virtually will be in the Poster Gallery for 6 months starting January 12, 2021 through June 12, 2021.

  • ORAL PAPERS accepted within a grouped paper session may opt to present as an E-Poster in the online “Poster Gallery.” Instructions for how to opt for an ePoster presentation will be included when you receive your presentations schedule notification. Poster Submission Deadlines:

Option 2. Submit poster by January 3, 2022. Posters submitted by this date will be posted on the Poster Gallery starting January 17, 2022 (the day after the conference)

Option 3. Submit poster by January 16, 2022. Posters submitted by this date will be posted on the Poster Gallery starting January 27, 2022 (the day after the conference)

Please note all posters presented in person and virtually will be in the Poster Gallery for 6 months starting January 12, 2021 through June 12, 2021.

  • SYMPOSIA organizers, symposia paper presenters, and discussants are expected to present in person, with a minimum of 2 papers presented in person if the symposium has 4 papers or a minimum of 3 papers presented in person if the symposium has 5 papers. The symposium papers not presented in person would be expected to be pre-recorded for the symposium organizer to show to the audience.
  • WORKSHOPS and ROUNDTABLE speakers are expected to present in person. To hold this session, a minimum of 1 speaker must present in person for workshops and 3 speakers minimum for roundtables.

REQUIREMENT FOR ALL IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL PRESENTERS: Please be reminded that all in person and virtual presenters/speakers/organizers/discussants are required to register for the “in person” conference rate and must be current 2022 SSWR members at the time of presentation. This requirement is applicable to ALL oral and poster presenters, symposium organizers, symposium paper presenters and symposium discussants, and workshop and roundtable speakers. Please note that co-authors are not expected to comply with this policy. Co-authors attending the conference, however, are required to register for the conference.
