The Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) Doctoral Student Travel Award Program is now accepting applications for the 2022 Annual Conference, January 12-16, 2022, in Washington, DC. Applications are due Thursday, November 18, 2021, by 11:59 PM EST.
Program Purpose: The SSWR Doctoral Student Travel Award Program is designed to increase the diversity of doctoral student presenters from underrepresented groups by assisting in their ability to attend and present their work at the SSWR Annual Conference with a travel stipend and a complimentary conference registration.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants must: 1) be currently enrolled doctoral students; and 2) have received an abstract acceptance as a presenting author for the 2022 SSWR conference. In the application, applicants must also identify as a member of a historically underrepresented racial/ethnic group, be a first-generation college student, and/or identify as a member of another disadvantaged group. All eligible applicants must demonstrate a current and significant financial hardship or special circumstances that may adversely impact attendance at the 2022 SSWR conference. Awardees will be selected by the SSWR Research Capacity Development Committee (RCDC).
Awards: Up to 20 travel stipends of $500 each will be distributed at the conference check-in. Stipends are intended to be used to defray costs associated with being a presenter at the 2022 Annual Conference (such as airfare, ground travel, hotel, meals, etc.). Conference registration will be covered for all recipients of the travel stipend.
