Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We write to ask for your support for the upcoming 2016 SSWR conference, January 13-17 in Washington, D.C. This year’s conference will be especially exciting for several reasons:

We are celebrating the 20th anniversary of SSWR’s annual conference. From less than 200 participants in 1996, the SSWR annual conference is now attended by over 1,700 members. The SSWR conference is now THE scientific meeting for our profession—and we look forward to celebrating its past and toasting its next twenty years.

We are celebrating the formal launch of the Grand Challenges for Social Work. SSWR will join with the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare in the public launch of the Grand Challenges for Social Work. Our keynote speakers, policy forum, symposia, and research presentations and panels will highlight the conference theme “Grand Challenges for Social Work: Setting a Research Agenda for the Future.”

We are celebrating SSWR’s new focus on policy, with the inauguration of the SSWR Conference Annual Policy Forum and the SSWR Policy Award.
